How We Use Beta Testing to Build a “Betta” Product

by

At Eyemaginations, we take customer experience seriously. In an effort to make Echo the best it can be, we make use of a variety of user testing techniques such as beta testing.

What’s beta testing and why do we bother?

Beta testing is the end-stage of software testing, when customers get to try the product out. It gives users an opportunity for an early look, and gives us, the product team, real-world feedback. The goal is to finalize the product so there are minimal issues when we launch for all of our users.

Before we release a significant update to Echo, we test the product internally to find bugs. We strive to continuously improve our product to create a high-quality experience for our customers. While Eyemaginations’ team does our best to uncover as many software issues as possible, what works in our office doesn’t always apply to the real world. That’s where customers like you come in.

Users are the experts

We need real Echo users to help us find bugs in the field. In exchange for early access to our cutting-edge features, beta testers try the site out and give us feedback. Although it means using software that might be a little rough around the edges, by doing so, you help us make Echo better for everyone. We compile your feedback and use it to inform our future fixes and updates.

Get involved

If you’d like to help us make Echo better by beta testing for us, please sign up here. That adds you to our list of potential beta testers and lets us know that you are interested in providing feedback.

Once you sign up and we have a beta version ready for you to test, you’ll get an email with the login instructions. From there, you’ll browse through the site and try to complete tasks as you normally would. If things seem broken (for example, you click Save and it didn’t save), just shoot us an email at [email protected]. If we don’t hear from you, we’ll follow up in a few weeks to hear how it’s going.

If you want to learn more upcoming changes to Echo, be sure to subscribe to receive product news.
